Think a gay man's murder is always homophobic? You...
It simply doesn’t. The death of Stuart Walker, a man found burnt to death at a roadside in Ayrshire on Saturday morning, was a needless glimmer of violence that’s all too commonly seen on the news each week. As it is, police enquiries are ongoing, with no motives currently ruled in or out. But I wouldn’t ask Twitter that, with one hugely popular retweet telling of a...

Five Reasons I Just Don't Take a Camera To Gigs...
Last night, I went to see Bob Dylan play live alongside Mark Knopfler. Despite his voice sounding like charcoal rubbed against brick, his energy at 70 surprises me and it’s another something checked off of the bucket list (as yet unchecked is writing whilst tripped on acid and shaking hands with a gorilla). What also surprised me was that, for once, I didn’t take a camera with...

See, Virgin Trains? This Is How You Do It
An error at Glasgow Queen Street this morning means that I can’t print out my pre-paid tickets in order to travel to Perth and see my girlfriend. A quick chat with the Scotrail staff has them confirm the system is down and that I can’t have a ticket ready for travel. Evening Reading: GamesBrief Unplugged Volume 2
It’s safe to say that you can’t operate very well in the games industry (successfully, at least) without having something of an acute sense of business about you. Rock Band Extra Life: 6 Days To Go!
Sheesh, it’s almost here. After two months of trying to calorie-counting and milk-drinking, ridiculous amounts of mild fitness training and two gaming expos, the first half of my 24 hour Rock Band drumming marathon for the charity Extra Life is upon us on Wednesday 12th October (with the second to follow on Monday 17th). That’s in, like, 6 days. I hope I’ll be ready for it,...

If there’s one thing to take away from what Steve Jobs did, it’s nothing to do with building computers, or designing phone software, or producing movies. It’s just to embrace your inner rockstar; think bigger and differently from everybody else, and hit the ground running.

On Remembering Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs has died. But you already knew that. It’d be way too easy to be an asshole at this point and joke about how he died of disappointment when he saw the iPhone 4S or that the 16 new watch faces weren’t impressive enough or blah blah blah. While I’m not a fan of iPhones, or Apple’s tendency to practice unnecessarily aggressive anti-competition strategies,...

Interview: The Bioware Doctors on The Bioware... →
I have no idea how I ended up in a room with Dr Ray Muzyka and Dr Greg Zeschuk of Bioware for half an hour to leech creative goodness from them, but I did, and I’m proud of the result.
